The Village of Hazelton is seeking a qualified person to fill the position of a FireSmart Educator for a term of approximately 9 months. The FireSmart Educator will be responsible for the facilitation of FireSmart related activities for the Village of Hazelton, District of New Hazelton and Electoral Area B within the Regional District of Kitimat Stikine. The position is responsible to ensure that the FireSmart activities are supported, developed and implemented in accordance with Provincial guidelines and the direction and policy provided by the Village of Hazelton.
This position includes duties relating to hiring and managing summer students to help with applicable projects.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, have excellent organizational, planning and project management skills and the proven ability to effectively communicate with administration, other Municipalities and Government agencies, as well as the public. Qualified candidates will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write correspondence, research, prepare reports and public education materials and the capability to make effective presentations to a variety of audiences. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is essential for this position. An ability to effectively lead work groups and positively contribute to a team environment are a requirement.
This is a contract position ending no later than March 30 2022.
